Problem summary
Resizing palettes on MAC OSX is clunky, often doesn't work and is entirely frustrating. You should be able to resize the palettes to any horizontal or vertical size docked or undocked like in on Windows or Fedora.

Steps to reproduce
1) Launch Mari, open a project such as the default head (Help>Create Example Project)
2) Drag a palette out of a docked area (any)
3) Attempt to resize the palette
4) Sometimes it works, othertimes it expands by anywhere as little as 1pixel by 1 pixel
