ID 116781 - Switching layers by selecting the layertype icons does not change the parameters of the selected layer

Problem summary
When selecting Paint/Mask/Stack icons to switch between a layer, layer parameters such as Opacity and Layer Style do not automatically update.

Steps to reproduce

1) Open Example Head

2) Duplicate a layer and modify the opacity of that later to '0.5' and change the layer style to 'Overlay' 

3) Repeat step 2 but ensure your parameter settings differ.

4) Switch between layers by selecting the Paint layer icon. Note that the parameters remain as though you are viewing the original layer.

5) Switch between layers by selecting the layer name. Note that the parameters update correctly.

Workaround
Ensure that you switch between layers by selecting the layer itself rather than an icon for best results and for consistency whilst working.

Expected behaviour
The parameters of the layer should automatically update to reflect that of the selected layer.

Actual behaviour
Instead, the parameters did not correctly update and retained the information of the last selected layer. This means that it is easy for users to adjust the wrong layer parameters by mistake.
