un-highlighting (hiding) curves in the editor, then working in the panel on displayed curve keys, the hidden curves are re-displayed, forcing user to un-highlight the curves not of interest again

note that all curves are highlighted and displayed when you open the curve editor

highlight only the translate.x curve by clicking on that value on the lefthand side of the curve editor; result: displays only the curve for translate.x
5.
drag the frame marker in the curve editor to another frame on the single curve that is displayed;
6.
in the panel 'set key' on that frame's translate.x knob for that curve
the curve editor re-displays all the curves of the Transform
