Audio intermittently disconnects when being played using monitor output enabled via the AJA LHi

Steps to reproduce
1. In OSX audio preferences set output device as AJA KonaLHi
2. Open NukeStudio
3. Open preferences > hardware > audio device > AJA KonaLHi
4. Set sequence to frame rate to 29.97
4. Import footage into script (I used '01 Golden Tanks' in the FileIO wav folder)
5. Select AJA card in monitor out tab
6. Play footage
Result: audio plays through LCD speakers, but every so often (maybe once every 30 secs there is a stutter in the audio)
AJA LHi (10.6.1 driver) on OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) in NukeStudio 10.0v3
Workaround
Issue does not appear to occur on later OS versions

I have tested with the following setup:
AJA LHi on OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) in NukeStudio 10.0v3
The AJA is connected to an AJA Hi5-4K (SLI to HDMI converter) via a single SLI cable and then a HDMI cable goes out of the the AJA Hi5-4K to the Samsung LCD.
