Problem summary
The source of the issue behind the pixel colour shifting that occurs between alternating viewer inputs.
The problem seems to be derived from the 'viewer buffer bit depth' value in the 'Viewer' tab within the 'Preferences'.
When the 'viewer buffer bit depth' is set to 'byte', it causes a slight colour variation in the viewer window.
Due to the limited information of a 'byte' value when compared to a 'float' value, This causes the pixels to change slightly between different viewer inputs.
After investigation, we have found setting the 'viewer buffer bit depth' to either 'half-float' or 'float' fixes the issue.
Customer reported version
nuke.10.5v1
Customer reported platform
windows10
Steps to reproduce
1) Launch Nuke, read in an image file
2) Go to 'Edit -> Preferences -> Viewer'
3) Check to see if 'viewer buffer bit depth' is set to 'byte' (If set to 'half-float' or 'float', change to 'byte' then restart nuke)
4) Connect the image file to another node (Write, Grade, Reformat)
5) Zoom in to the viewer at around 2500% (Close enough to see pixels)
6) Switch between the read node and the other node (Using 1 & 2 while selecting the viewer node to see the result in the viewer window)
Result: You should see a slight pixel shift when you switch in-between the viewer inputs.
Workaround
At step 3 in the reproduction steps, set the 'viewer buffer bit depth' to 'half-float' or 'float' & then restart Nuke.
Reproduced by support
I reproduced the problem in the following versions & operating systems:
Nuke8.0v7 - Windows 7 - Mac 10.12 - CentOS6.9
Nuke9.0v1 - Windows 7
Nuke9.0v9 - Windows 7
Nuke10.0v1 - Windows 7
Nuke10.0v5 - Windows 7
Nuke10.5v1 - Windows 7
Nuke10.5v4 - Windows 7 - Mac 10.12 - CentOS6.9
Expected behaviour
The result in the viewer when switching between the 2 inputs should produce the same result.
Actual behaviour
There is a slight colour pixel shift that occurs in the viewer when switching between 2 or more viewer inputs.
