ID 271222 - Inconsistent use of scientific notation for large numbers

Problem summary:

Katana is inconsistent in its use of scientific notation for large number parameters and attributes.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create, edit and view a CameraCreate node
  2. In the fov field, enter 3e+30 and press enter
    • Observe that the value is displayed in long form
  3. Repeat the previous step
    • Observe that the value is displayed in scientific notation.
  4. Remove the edit flag, flush caches, then add the edit flag again
    • Observe that the value is displayed in long form.
  5. In the first translate field, enter 3e+30 and press enter
    • Observe that the value is displayed in scientific notation
  6. In the Scene Graph tab, expand and select /root/world/cam/camera
  7. In the Attributes tab:
    • Observe that the geometry.fov attribute is shown in long form
    • Observe that the xform.interactive.translate attribute is shown in scientific notation
