Problem summary
When exporting footage to an MOV format, Nuke will not keep all the metadata from the previous file.
Following the reproduction steps, you will see that the written quicktime from Nuke will have a lot less metadata info compared to the original.
Users would like an option to keep all metadata, so they can keep track of where the original footage came from (Including shot names, camera used, etc).
Customer reported version
nuke.10.5v7
Customer reported platform
10.12
Steps to reproduce
1. Read in your mov file (Or internal mov file)
2. Create a ViewMetadata node and you will see a large amount of metadata related to the original mov file.
3. Create a write node and write out to a prores444 (Or any other prores codec) mov file.
4. Read in the new mov file and attach a viewmetadata node and compare the metadata to the original.
Result: About 50% of the metadata is missing in the new mov file. For example all quicktime/ metadata is replaced with new Quicktime metadata.
Workaround
Use image sequences, which allow you to add and save all metadata
