Problem summary
All Nuke 11.0v1 modes are forced to launch in Low Resolution mode on Macs with Retina displays
Customer reported version
nuke.11.0v1
Customer reported platform
MacOS
Steps to reproduce
1) Launch NukeX 11.0v1 on a Mac with a retina display
2) Launch NukeX 10.5v5 or earlier (don't launch regular Nuke, see note below)
3) Compare the UI text of the two versions and notice how the text on Nuke 11.0v1 is "blurry" compared to NukeX 10.5v5.
This screenshot compares NukeX 10.5v3 on the left and NukeX 11.0v1 on the right
4) In Finder, right click on Nuke icons and select "Get Info", note how the "Open in Low Resolution" option is ticked and greyed out for all Nuke 11.0v1 modes/icons so it cannot be changed.
For Nuke 10.5v5 and earlier, "Open in Low Resolution" is only ticked and greyed out for standard Nuke, other modes do not have the option ticked and will launch in retina mode.
Reproduced by support
Checked the Nuke app icons for "Open in Low Resolution" settings in the following versions:
Nuke 11.0v1 - MacOSX 10.11.6 and 10.12.3 -
regression Nuke 10.5v5 - MacOSX 10.11.6 and 10.12.3
Nuke 10.5v1 - MacOSX 10.11.6
Nuke 10.0v5 - MacOSX 10.11.6
Nuke 10.0v1 - MacOSX 10.11.6
Nuke 9.0v9 - MacOSX 10.11.6
Visually compared NukeX 11.0v1 to NukeX 10.5v5 on two machines:
- Retina 15inch Macbook Pro running OSX 10.12.3
- Retina 27inch 5K iMac running OSX 10.11.6
The difference in UI between the two versions is the same on both machines with a noticeable less crisp display
Earliest version tested
Checked back as far as Nuke 9.0v9, the pattern of only regular Nuke set to "Open in Low Resolution" and the other modes able to run at retina resolution was consistent that far back.
Expected behaviour
All modes of Nuke should open in retina mode and not in Low Resolution mode.
Actual behaviour
All Nuke 11.0v1 modes launch in Low Resolution mode so they look blurry on a retina display.
NukeX/NukeStudio/Hiero 10.5v5 run in high resolution mode when launched from their app icons. Only regular Nuke 10.5v5 and earlier launch in Low Resolution mode.
