Problem summary
Disabling GPU drivers prior to running Nuke 11 immediately crashes on launch.
This is due to Nuke requiring the GPU hardware to have at least 512 MB of video memory and driver support for OpenGL 2.0, starting with version 11.0v1.
Customer reported version
nuke.11.0v2
Customer reported platform
centos7
Steps to reproduce
1) Disable your GPU drivers
2) Launch Nuke 11.0v1 or 11.0v2
3) Nuke immediately crashes with the followingshader errors:
QOpenGLShaderProgram: could not create shader program
Workaround
Please install the GPU/drivers or make sure your GPU meets the minimum system requirements of 512 MB of video memory and driver support for OpenGL 2.0, per: https://www.foundry.com/products/nuke/requirements
Reproduced by support
11.0v2 - Windows 8, Windows 10
11.0v1 - Windows 8, Windows 10
Earliest version tested
Regression
Last working version: 10.5v5
Expected behaviour
Nuke should display an error either in the terminal or via a dialog notifying the user their GPU is not meeting the minimum system requirements, and close down rather than crash.
Actual behaviour
Nuke crashes on launch if the GPU is disabled or the existing GPU (integrated or dedicated) does not meet the minimum system requirements of 512 MB of video memory and driver support for OpenGL 2.0.
