ID 335467 - Nuke Studio's Build Track from Export Structure is causing a color space index error when updated in the timeline, if it is created before the render exists in 11.1 releases
Problem summary Within Nuke Studio, you have the ability to re-import footage back into your timeline, based upon an export structure that you have either used or plan to use in your export settings. This can be achieved through the 'Build Track > From Export Structure' option when selecting a clip or series of clips in the sequence.
In Nuke Studio 11.1 releases, if you create a 'Build Track > From Export Structure and the export directory it is looking at contains no renders (which is a viable workflow option until renders get generated), when renders are generated and the clips are refreshed in the Nuke Studio timeline, the clips will be imported with the following error: "TIMELINE-NAME: timeline_####: Input color space index (##) out of range."
This issue does not exists in previous versions of Nuke Studio and only in Nuke 11.1 releases.
Customer reported version nuke.11.1v1
Customer reported platform windows7
Steps to reproduce
1) Open a new Nuke Studio project (Nuke 11.1v1 or Nuke 11.1v2)
2) Import any footage in any format and drag into a sequence (10-20 frames works well)
3) Right-click and select 'Build Track > From Export Structure'
4) Select 'Basic Nuke Shot', then select the Nuke Write node, ensure you manually select a directory, then and click 'Build'
You will now notice a new and offline VFX layer in your timeline
5) Next, right-click on the original Footage in the timeline and select 'Export'
6) In the Exporter Settings, ensure you are in 'Process as Shots' and select 'Basic Nuke Shot', leaving everything in preset, ensure that you have selected the directory from step 4 and select 'Export'
7) Inside of the Nuke Studio general interface, switch over to Nuke using the 'Node Graph' tab next to the 'Sequence' tab.
8) Inside of the Node Graph tab, in the top menu, select 'File > Open Comp' and select the script that was exported in step 6.
9) In the Nuke script, select the 'Write' node, then select 'Render' (ensuring the frame range is set to 'global') and press 'Ok' to render.
10) When the rendering is complete, head back to the 'Sequence' tab in Nuke Studio
11) Click the VFX layer and select, 'Refresh clips' Result: The footage that has been rendered in Nuke comes in with a colorspace index error and sometimes an incorrect colorspace
Workaround If you save a new version of your Nuke script from step 8 using 'Save new Comp Version' and re-render this version, when this rendered clip is refreshed into Nuke Studio and version up (alt + up), this error will disappear.
Reproduced by support This bug has been reproduced in: Nuke 11.1v2 - Windows 7 - MacOSX 10.12 - CentOS 6.9 Nuke 11.1v1 - Windows 7 - MacOSX 10.12 - CentOS 6.9 - Regression
Unable to reproduce bug in: Nuke 11.0v4 - Windows 7 - MacOSX 10.12 - CentOS 6.9
Earliest version tested Nuke 11.0v4 - This issue no longer appears in this version and has regressed
Expected behaviour When using the 'Build Track from Export Structure function before the footage is exported, when the footage is rendered you would expect no colorspace error on the render when brought back in the Nuke Studio project via refreshing the clip.
Actual behaviour When using the 'Build Track from Export Structure function before the footage is exported, the footage has a colorspace error when brought back in the Nuke Studio project via refreshing the clip.
