ID 353625 - Adding a HueShift node to Strobing footage, will result in artifacting if footage isn't cached

Follow

Problem summary
Using a HueShift node on a strobing image causes heavy artifacting within the viewer.
When playing through the footage, the screen will flash lines between the frame before and the current frame.

Rendering under the HueShift node works as expected ( no problems reading output back into Nuke and replaying footage)

This issue only occurs on first calculations of the node, after the footage has played through atleast once, the footage uses the cached calculations.
Clearing the cache will display the issue again.

Steps to reproduce

1) Open Nuke

2)  Copy the following snippet into the Node Graph:

set cut_paste_input [stack 0]version 11.1 v4Constant { inputs 0 channels rgb color {{frame%2} 0 0 0} name Constant1 selected true xpos -257 ypos -45}HueShift { hue_rotation {{frame}} name HueShift1 selected true xpos -257 ypos 91}set Ndbf95880 [stack 0]Transform { center {1024 778} name Transform3 note_font helvetica selected true xpos -257 ypos 139}CheckerBoard2 { inputs 0 format "4096 3112 0 0 4096 3112 1 4K_Super_35(full-ap)" name CheckerBoard1 note_font helvetica selected true xpos -400 ypos -48}Merge2 { inputs 2 name Merge3 note_font helvetica selected true xpos -400 ypos 139}push $Ndbf95880Viewer { frame 84 frame_range 1-100 name Viewer1 note_font helvetica selected true xpos -257 ypos 115}

3)  View the HueShift or Merge node within the Viewer and playback the footage

Result: The Viewer will strobe as expected, but artifacting will occur.

Workaround
Cache the footage through one playthrough, if the issue persists, precompile the footage after the HueShift node
