ID 365566 - Graphical artifacts when rendering high-resolution 2D images loaded using ImageRead nodes

Follow

Problem summary:

When rendering high-resolution 2D images that are loaded using ImageRead nodes, graphical artifacts can occur in the image displayed in the Monitor tab. In the reproduction case, eight tiles of the rendered image are not displayed correctly.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download the attached image file source_png_problematic_mod3.png to a folder on your workstation, for example /tmp.
  2. Start Katana.
  3. In the Node Graph tab, create an ImageRead node and set its view and edit flags.
  4. Set the file parameter to the path of the downloaded image, e.g. /tmp/source_png_problematic_mod3.png.
  5. Turn the image.rawData parameter's checkbox on.
  6. Switch to the Monitor tab and observe the image (you may need to trigger a 2D update).
  7. Create an ImageColor node and set its view flag.
  8. Check that a black image is now shown in the Monitor tab.
  9. Set the view flag back on the ImageRead node.

Expected behavior:

The source image displays without graphical artifacts.

Actual behavior:

8 tiles of the source image display pixels from different tiles, as shown in the following image:

Workaround:
