Problem summary
Deformed meshes impact performance while hidden.

Steps to reproduce
1) Open Modo.
2) Open the attached scene.
3) Enable the glmeter by running the "glmeter" command in the command bar.
4) Select the animate tab.
5) Press play.
Result: the playback is laggy/slow.
6) Stop the playback and Select Layout>Palettes>Item list.
7) Select all of the layers in the scene and hide them. No items should be visible in the viewport.
8) Press play.
Result: the playback is still laggy/slow.

Expected behaviour
Hiding a mesh or item should prevent any deformations on that item from calculating/impacting performance.
Actual behaviour
A hidden mesh with deformations will still evaluate during playback.
