ID 380123 - When symmetry is enabled while sculpting on a displacement image, the sculpting result either disappear from the mesh or shrinks in size

Follow

Problem summary
When the Symmetry Tool is enabled while sculpting on a displacement image, the sculpting result either disappear from the mesh or shrinks in size when the sculpt stroking is released.

If the current Sculpt Tool is released or if another Sculpt Tool is activated, then the actual sculpting result is displayed on the mesh.

Customer reported version
Modo 12.1v2

Customer reported platform
Windows 10

Steps to reproduce

1) Open Modo and create a sphere.

2) Select the sphere and press "M" to assign a new material to it.

3) Click on the "Brush" button in the left corner of the window to switch to the Painting and Sculpting Toolbar.

4) Open the Utilities tab and then select "Add Displacement Texture". Select a location to save the new displacement texture. In the New Still dialog, leave all the options by default and then click "OK".

5) Enable the Symmetry Tool by clicking on the "Symmetry" button.

6) Go to the Sculpt Tools tab and select a Sculpt Tool, e.g. Push Tool. Start to sculpt on the sphere.

7) Release the sculpt stroking and notice that the sculpted parts of the sphere have disappeared or shrunk in size. In the Shader Tree, click on the displacement image to display it in the Image Viewer window. The sculpting result is seen on the displacement image but not on the sphere in the viewport.

8) Now sculpt on the sphere again and the sculpted areas are now seen in the viewport. If the current Sculpt Tool is released or if another Sculpting Tool is activated, then the sculpting result is seen but disappears or shrinks in size if the sphere is deselected.

Workaround
Disable and then enable the displacement image layer in the Shader Tree after using a Sculpt Tool with symmetry enabled.

Earliest version tested
Modo 11.0v3 - Windows 10 - CentOS 7 - MacOSX 10.13 - This issue no longer appears in this version and has regressed.

Expected behaviour
Image-Based sculpting on displacement images with symmetry enabled should always sculpt and display the correct results on meshes

Actual behaviour
When symmetry is enabled while sculpting on displacement images, the sculpting result either disappear from the mesh or shrink in size after releasing the stroking. If the current Sculpt Tool is released or if another Sculpt Tool is activated, then the actual sculpting result is displayed on the mesh.
