A mesh light only illuminates in +X direction when rendering volumes. The other 5 axis do not seem to illuminate volumes, despite illuminating meshes and other objects.
Reproduced by support This bug has been reproduced in: 12.0v1 - Windows 10, OSX 10.13.2, Centos 7.3
Unable to reproduce bug in: 11.2v3 - Windows 10, OSX 10.13.2, Centos 7.3
Earliest version tested 11.2v3 - This issue no longer appears in this version and has regressed
Expected behaviour Mesh lights should illuminate volumes in each direction geometry points.
Actual behaviour Mesh lights only seem to illuminate volumes in the +X direction.
Steps to reproduce
Scene creation: 1) Open Modo. 2) Hold "Ctrl" and click the sphere tool to create a unit sphere. 3) Select Geometry>New mesh item to create a new mesh item. 4) Select the new mesh item, then hold "Ctrl" and click the cube tool to create a unit cube. 5) Select Geometry>Unit Primitives>In new mesh>plane to create a unit plane. There should now be three mesh items, each with a mesh in them. 6) Press "5" to enter item selection mode. Select the sphere and press "w" to activate the transform tool. Translate the sphere .5m in the "+Y" direction. 7) Repeat step 6 with the cube primitive. Additionally, translate the cube primitive 2.5m in the "-X" direction. 8) Select the plane, then scale it to 1000% in each axis. 9) In the item bin, select Add Item>Mesh light. In the mesh light properties, specify the mesh item with the cube primitive as the Prototype. 10) Select Add item>Volume. In the Volume's properties, select the mesh item with the sphere primitive as the particle source. 11) In the item bin, hide the mesh item with the sphere primitive by clicking the eyeball icon on the left.
Testing the issue: 1) Create the scene or open the provided scene as per "scene creation." 2) Press "f9" to render the scene. It should render the particle cloud with a highlight on the left side. 3) Select the cube primitive. Rotate it 180 degrees in the y axis. 4) Press "f9" to render the scene again. Result: The volume is not illuminated with a highlight, even though the ground plane is illuminated.
