ID 397260 - Mov decoding error causes certain mp4 h264 files to not be replayed in NukeStudio/Hiero

Follow

Problem summary
NukeStudio/Hiero experiences a QuickTime issue at the last few frames on some mp4 h264 videos.
This appears to be due to an export error on the mp4 itself.  ( Tests exported from Adobe Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder )

The footage will play back properly in media players and Nuke, yet Hiero throws a ReadException, which causes the footage to not be replayable/cached within the timeline:

Windows Exception:  ( only appears in command prompt )

Linux Exception:

Interestingly, playing the clip back will still replay the audio when the Viewer and Timeline arent moving.

This issue also occurs in Nuke, yet it can be replayed, cached and displays the following error message:

This is a regression with NukeStudio11.2, although the error appears due to the mp4 export error, the clip plays back correctly.

Steps to reproduce

1) Open NukeStudio/Hiero with a new project

2) Import the attached mp4, drag and drop it into the timeline to create a new sequence

3) Play through the start of the footage and note that it caches as expected.

4) Skip to the last 5 seconds and play through till it loops.

Result:  When the timeline hits the end frame, the following read exception will appear within Hiero's console:

Replaying the footage in the timeline will display the cached footage, yet will not cache anything yet to be cached.

If the footage has audio, you can still hear the audio when the video is not playing.

Expected behaviour
The footage should play back without issues.

Actual behaviour
Missing frames at the end ( either caused by the export or Hiero ) cause the footage to stop caching in the Viewer.

Workaround
Removing the frames which cause the QuickTime error resolve the issue.
