ID 345261 - Atlas UV projection doesn't maintain relative scale of thin/long polygons

Follow

The Atlas UV projection type struggles with long or thin polygons. The result UV is often disproportionate - it's too short / wide.

From the docs:
Uses a multi-faceted projection method to place all polygons into the UV map and maintains the relative scale based on the 3D volume of the polygons.

Steps to reproduce

1) Open the attached scene file

2) Create a new UV map for the object

3) In UV view click Project > Atlas

Observe the proportions of the resulting UVs.

Workaround

Unknown.
