Workaround
Please note that this will disable the command "Add Per-Light Render Outputs" in the render menu. It is recommended that you first back up your user configuration file before performing this workaround.
1. Open Modo.
2. Select System > Form Editor.
3. Select the "funnel" icon to open the filter search bar.
4. Search for the following command: shader.createLightOutputs
5. Select "Add Per-Light Render Outputs" from the tree on the left.
6. Right click "Add Per-Light Render Outputs" and select "delete."
Now, Modo should not crash when you cancel selecting an alternate file.
