Steps to reproduce

1) From Mari, load the attached archive.

2) In the project, open the Layers palette.

3) Select all layers and right-click > Merge layers.

4) Observe performance of Mari.

Expected behavior
The project should continue to be operable.

Actual behavior
Mari no longer functions and then needs to be Force Quit.

Workaround
Making the Tri-Planar projection layer "paintable" allows the software to continue without issue.
