ID 457768 - [C] Photoshop: Opening panels from Flix generates unnecessary Artwork copies across local temporary directories, impacting the time it takes to open them
Problem summary
Opening a panel in PS causes three copies of the same file to exist on the Client, across both the Flix Temp Directory, and the Asset Cache Directory.
This can cause mild to extreme delays in opening the panel, depending on the size of the PSD.
Customer reported version
Flix 6.3.4
Customer reported platform
Windows
Steps to reproduce
1) In Photoshop, create two layer comps.
2) Make sure to have the Always Send Original as Master checkbox ticked, and a Sequence Revision open in Flix, then use Each Layer Comp to send two panels.
3) In Flix, save the resulting Revision.
4) Go to Preferences > Advanced take note of the Asset Cache Directory, and clear it by clicking on CLEAR.
5) Check what the path to your Temp Directory is set to, then go to that folder and empty the contents of the folder therein named AssetCache.
6) Now go to Preferences > Third Party Apps > Adobe Photoshop and ensure you have Open as separate PSD as Panel Open Behaviour, and Always Open Master Image disabled
7) Reload the Client (View > Reload) then navigate back to the Revision created in the previous steps.
8) Double click on one of the two panels, wait for it to be opened in PS, then check both the Temp Directory and the Asset Cache Directory on your computer.
9) Now open the Master Image, then check both the Temp Directory and the Asset Cache Directory again.
Expected behaviour
There should be four files in the Asset Cache Directory, and a maximum of two files in the Temp Directory.
Actual behaviour
There are four files in the Asset Cache Directory (the two thumbnail PNGs, one Master Image PSD, and one Original Artwork PSD), but four in the Temp Directory (two identical PSDs with different filenames for the Master Image, and two identical PSDs with different filenames for the Original Artwork).
When opening multiple panels as Layer Comps or in the Timeline, there will be a copy of each panel's Original Artwork both in the Asset Cache Directory and the Temp Directory, plus a PSD in the Temp Directory that contains all of them.
