ID 468318 - Experimental support for switching to custom Hydra Render Delegates is not currently available in Katana 4.0

Problem summary:

Experimental support for switching to and between custom Hydra Render Delegates, which was first added in Katana 3.2v1, has been deactivated in the Katana 4.0 line due to changes to the underlying bridging code from Katana to Hydra/USD. Support for switching between Hydra Render Delegates will become available in Katana 4.5v1+.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Follow the developer documentation for building and registering a custom Hydra Render Delegate with Katana: https://learn.foundry.com/katana/dev-guide/Plugins/HydraRenderDelegates/index.html
  2. Launch Katana.
  3. Open a Viewer (Hydra) tab.
  4. Verify that the custom Hydra Render Delegate is listed in the Hydra Renderer menu in the Experimental section of the tab's View menu.
  5. Choose the custom Hydra Render Delegate from that View > Hydra Renderer menu.

Expected behaviour:

The 3D scene is rendered using the chosen custom Hydra Render Delegate.

Actual behaviour:

Choosing the custom Hydra Render Delegate has no effect.

Workaround:

No known workaround.
