ID 474377 - [C] Unable to grant Flix microphone access on macOS Catalina and Big Sur

Follow

Problem summary
Flix no longer triggers a microphone access request on macOS Catalina and Big Sur when users need to record a pitch for the first time.

Customer reported version
Flix 6.3.6

Customer reported platform
macOS 10.15

Steps to reproduce

Note: this is only an issue for users that haven't given microphone access to Flix before 6.3.6.
If you have already given Flix access to microphone, but would like to reproduce this bug for testing purposes, you can reset microphone permissions via the Terminal by running tccutil reset Microphone.

1) Open a sequence revision in Flix.
2) Click on the 'Record' button.

Expected behaviour
This should trigger a notification from the operating system asking if you would like to give Flix access to the microphone. Upon confirming, Flix should show up in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Microphone, allowing you to record your voice for a pitch in Flix.

Actual behaviour
The notification from the operating system doesn't show up, so Flix does not have access to the microphone, and voice will not be recorded during a pitch.

Workaround
Start the Flix Client from the Terminal. This will allow you to give Flix temporary access to the microphone.
