Problem summary
All types of file transfers are likely to fail when there is high traffic on the Flix Server(s).

Customer reported version
Flix 6.3.5

Customer reported platform

CentOS 7 Server

Steps to reproduce

Note: this issue is more likely to happen when the Flix Server is very busy; the following steps give a consistent method of reproduction, though there are other ways to hit this problem.

1) Have at least 12 users on 5 servers with ~4 vCPUs each.

2) Have:

  • one user publish a medium sized sequence of all unpublished panels to Avid (~400 panels)
  • one user exporting a QuickTime for a medium sized sequence (~400 panels)
  • one user publish back from Avid
  • 3 users import at least 20 panels (from PS or manually, it doesn't matter)

At least one of the users importing panels or the one doing the publish back from Avid will have their file upload fail with "chunk failed to transfer" error.

Expected behaviour
All imports should complete successfully unless there is a genuine network issue.

Actual behaviour
Imports can fail with "chunk failed to transfer" error though there is nothing wrong with the connection the Client has with the Server.

Workaround
Should you hit this issue, we recommend closing the Flix Client and ensuring no Flix background processes are running before starting it up and trying again.

Reproduced by support

This bug has been reproduced in:
6.3.6-2 - macOS 10.14 Client - Windows 10 Client - CentOS 7

6.3.5 - macOS 10.14 Client - Windows 10 Client - CentOS 7

Due to the complexity of the reproduction steps, this bug has not been fully regression tested.
