Problem summary
Base color is not getting shown or shown black when the SSS radius of 0 is set.

Steps to reproduce
1) Load the attached scene file (skip missing images).
2) Open the Preview Render window.
3) Notice that the Material under the SSS group is set to a Scattering Distance of 0 m, but the mesh (with the hole in it) shows as black when it should be 0.8,0.8,0.8 (diffuse color)
Expected behaviour
Show the diffuse color as there is no scattering.
Actual behaviour
The diffuse color is not being shown.
