ID 476506 - During high traffic on Flix Servers, the Player doesn't display some panels even though thumbnails for them are visible in the Panel Browser

Follow

Problem summary
When Flix Servers are busy, the thumbnail media object for the Player can time out even though the thumbnail requested by the Panel Browser is already there. This forces users who wish to playback the sequence to have to reload the Client, or go back to the Revision Browser and then back into the revision, even though the media object is already cached.

Customer reported version
Flix 6.3.5

Customer reported platform

macOS

Steps to reproduce

Note: this issue is more likely to happen when the Flix Server is very busy; the following steps give a consistent method of reproduction, though there are other ways to hit this problem.

1) Have at least 6 users on no more than 2 servers with ~4 vCPUs each.

2) Have:

  • - one user publish a medium sized sequence of all unpublished panels to Avid (~400 panels)
  • - one user exporting a QuickTime for a medium sized sequence (~400 panels)
  • - one user publish back from Avid
  • - 3 users import at least 20 panels (from PS or manually, it doesn't matter)

3) The users importing should check the Panel Browser and the Player. At least one of them will reproduce this.

Expected behaviour
All panels imported are visible in the Panel Browser and are correctly displayed in the Player when selected.

Actual behaviour
All panels imported are visible in the Panel Browser, but some of the last ones will not be viewable in the Player. The Dev Tools will display "media object download timed out" error.

Workaround
Reload the Client, or navigate back to the Revision Browser and then back into the revision, even though the media object is already cached.

Reproduced by support

This bug has been reproduced in:
6.3.6-2 - macOS 10.14 Client - Windows 10 Client - CentOS 7

6.3.5 - macOS 10.14 Client - Windows 10 Client - CentOS 7

Due to the complexity of the reproduction steps, this bug has not been fully regression tested.
