Problem summary
Creating a project using geometry with UVs outside the valid range causes a black screen

Customer reported platform
Windows 10
Steps to reproduce
1) Create a new project with the attached .OBJ file
2) Click OK in the 'UVs are out of range' error dialog
Expected behaviour
A new project should still load even though the geometry's UVs are outside the valid range.
Actual behaviour
The Mari window turns black and requires a restart.
Workaround
Either:
- Create the new project with a temporary model and then import the geometry with the invalid UV range.
- Create the new project via Python.
