Steps to reproduce
 
1) Download the attached .zip file and extract it

2) Open the New Project window and select the shot.usda file

3) In the Variants field, enter the path to the second Variant for the 'Tree2' Model - "/Shot/Set/Tree2/TreeLeaves"
 
4) Create the project
 
Expected behaviour
As the 'Tree2/crown' prim's variant with visibility has been entered, the second tree should have visible leaves.
 
Actual behaviour
The 'Tree2/crown' prim uses the first variant, so the leaves are invisible.
 
Workaround
Unknown.
