Multiple customers who use particles have brought this up, but the change was intentional to force drawing of camera and lights to size automatically. My suggestion is to separate particle size from that setting and create a new pref for it that defaults to 1.0 as before. (see comments below for more details).

Steps to reproduce
1) Open Modo and navigate to the Items Viewport.
2) Press the 'Add Item' button, and double click the 'Particle Generator' in the pop-up menu to add it to the Items Viewport.
3) Select the Particle Generator Item and in its Properties tab select the 'Display' tab and observe the Size.
Expected behavior
The Particle Generator Size should be set to 1.0 by default when created.
Actual behavior
The Particle Generator Size is set to 0 by default when created.
