Modo crashes when changing a mesh type to a Static mesh when a Vertex-Map-Texture is present

Steps to reproduce
 
1) Launch Modo and open the attached.lxo file.

2) Right-click on one of the mesh items in the Item List and select Change Type > Static Mesh.
 
Expected behaviour
Mesh should be changed to a static mesh without Modo crashing.
 
Actual behaviour
Modo crashes when converting to Static Mesh.
 
Workaround
Import as an FBX.

This bug has been reproduced in:
16.0v3 - Windows 10 / macOS 12.6
14.1v1 - Windows 10 / macOS 11.7 -regression
 
Unable to reproduce bug in:
14.0v2 - Windows 10 / macOS 11.7
 
Earliest version tested
