Problem summary
Hiero returns an empty error message when it is unable to overwrite an existing file.
This issue seems to occur when specific files are not able to be overwritten as, when the file's directory is set to read-only, an error like the following is returned:

Steps to reproduce
 
1) Open Hiero.
 
2) Import a clip (File > Import File(s)...) and drop it on to the timeline.
 
3) Right click the clip on the timeline > Export.
 
4) Select the Basic Nuke Shot export preset and click Export.
 
5) Once the export has completed, find the exported .nk script in your OS file browser and set the file to Read-only.
For example, on Windows, right click the file > Properties > check Read-only > click OK:
 

 
6) In Hiero, right click the clip on the timeline again > Export.
 
7) Select the Basic Nuke Shot export preset and click Export, ensuring that you export to the same location as step 4.
The follow prompt should appear when doing this step, so click Yes:
 

 
8) The export should fail with an error in the Export Queue. Click the eye icons to display the error in a dialog box, which will be empty:
 

 
Expected behaviour
Hiero should return an error message that lets the user know why the export has failed.
 
Actual behaviour
Hiero returns an empty error message when it is unable to overwrite an existing file.
 
Workaround
Unknown.
