ID 537462 - Nodes sporadically jump to different positions when clicked

Follow

Problem summary
Nodes sporadically jump to different positions when clicked. This happens after moving another node into the same position it was in at the start of that move.

The position they move to is normally close the Node Graph's origin (within 10 units of 0,0).

Customer reported version
Mari 6.0v2

Customer reported platform
Windows 10

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Project in Mari.

  2. Create two nodes, away from the Node Graph's origin point.

  3. Move one of the nodes and make sure that the cursor finishes in exactly the same position where it started (this is easier with low sensitivity mouse settings).

  4. Move the other node.

Expected behaviour
No node movement beyond the user's input.

Actual behaviour
The second node jumps to a new position near the Node Graph origin.

Workaround
This typically occurs for users when they accidentally do a "micro-movement" when selecting a node with their Wacom pen, which then makes the next node they select jump. As such, users can reduce the occurrence of this issue by:

  • Adjusting cursor sensitivity.
  • Adjusting their Tablet Area setting in the Wacom Tablet Properties.
  • Making sure they do clicks instead of accidental micro-movements when selecting nodes.
  • Selecting the node with marquee select, and then using a specified shortcut for the Open Node Properties action (default is CTRL+P):
