Problem summary
Playback/Caching of Prores files is worse in Nuke Studio/Hiero 14.1/15.0 than 14.0 on macOS
This doesn't seem to effect H264, DNxHD, PhotoJPEG movs or .exr or .dpx files.
Customer reported version
nuke.15.0v2
Customer reported platform
mac.13
Steps to reproduce
1) Copy this file to your local drive: /netshare/support/tickets/149422/colourWheel_4K_Prores.mov
2) Open Nuke Studio / Hiero
3) In Edit>Preferences...>Performance>Caching set playback cache size to 5 and press OK
4) Relaunch Nuke Studio/Hiero to apply the preference
5) Import the local Prores file and add it to a sequence
6) Set the Viewer to 1:1 proxy resolution, and the fps to 500
7) In the sequence, change the project resolution to 3840x2160 UHD_4K
8) Playback the Viewer, waiting for the playhead to get to the end of the cached area, and check the red FPS number, it is lower in newer application versions
FPS varies between machine, but the drop is constantly reproducible:
Machine 1:
14.0v6: ~25fps
14.1v1: ~22fps
Machine 2:
14.0v6: ~46fps
14.1v1: ~41fps
Expected behaviour
For the playback to be the same or better in newer Nuke Studio / Hiero versions
Actual behaviour
The playback on the same hardware is worse
Workaround
Unknown.
