Problem summary
Reducing the size of the Viewer tab causes visual artifacts to appear on displayed VDB assets that have been brought in through Usd. Also changing the viewer.antiAliasing value inside the Preferences menu can affect the severity of the visual artifacting. This behaviour appears to only occur on some GPU's, such as those listed below:

Steps to reproduce
 
1) Open Katana and create a UsdSubLayerAdd node.
 
2) Set the Render and Edit flags on the newly created node.

3) Set the value of the asset parameter to a Usd file that contains a VDB asset.

4) Expand all the root location in the Scene Explorer tab.
 
5) Then enable Volumes inside the Viewer tab by clicking View > Volumes.
 
6) Resize the Viewer tab down to roughly 300 x 400 pixels by selecting the corner of the tab and dragging inwards.
 
Expected behaviour
The VDB still displays in the viewer.
 
Actual behaviour
The VDB displays in the viewer with artifacting like so:
