ID 555936 - Text with a variable number of characters is not consistently selected in the Viewer

Follow

Problem summary:
Text with a variable number of characters is not consistently selected in the Viewer

This issue affects the Text node, and the Text Soft Effect.

Customer reported version:
Nuke Studio N/A

Customer reported platform:
N/A

Steps to reproduce:
1) Launch Nuke Studio and add a clip to the Timeline.
2) Create a Text Soft Effect and place the following expression into its message knob:

frame [frame] abc
3) Select the entire message in the Properties panel, which should also be reflected in the Viewer:

4) Scrub to a frame that has more than one digit, and observe how the text is no longer fully selected in the Viewer:

Expected behavior:
When all text is selected in the Properties panel, all text should be selected in the Viewer.

Actual behavior:
If a selected text expression resolves to be n characters long, but later changes to be n+x characters long, only the first n characters are selected even though this does not match what is selected in the message knob.

Workaround:
Although there is no known workaround at this time for the selection discrepancy, the global font scale knob can be used to change the size of all text regardless of the selection.
