ID 560824 - BasicSurface doesn't make alpha areas transparent

BasicSurface does not make alpha areas transparent.

Steps to reproduce

1) Open Nuke. 

2) Create a Checkerboard. 

3) Shuffle the channels to create an alpha based on the black parts of the image.

4) Add a Premult node.

5) Create a BasicSurface node and connect the Premult to the mapD pipe.

6) Connect a the BasicSurface to a GeoSphere node's mat input.

7) Create a Camera and DirectLight and render the result through a ScanlineRender node:

8) Notice that the alpha transparency is not respected:

 

Expected behaviour
The transparent parts of the alpha channel should be respected in the final result.
 

Actual behaviour
The checkerboard is displayed on the geometry, without the transparency of the alpha.
 

Workaround
Unknown.
