Problem summary
3D Geometry files (except .OBJ) can't be edited/deleted on Windows after importing them into Mari. This is resolved once Mari has been closed.
This has been reproduces with .abc .fbx and .usd.

Customer reported version
Mari 7.0v2

Customer reported platform
Windows 11

Steps to reproduce
  1. In any 3D software, export a geometry file. This can be any file type except .OBJ.
(Test files have been attached to this report)

  2. Create a Project in Mari with your file. Alternatively, add the file to an existing Project as a new Object or as a new Object Version.

  3. Without closing Mari, open the file in your Windows File Explorer and try to delete it, rename it, or in any way edit it. Alternatively, you can try overwriting it by performing Step 1 again.

Expected behaviour
As Mari contains all of a Project's data in the Project Location, and it doesn't need to access any other files, you should be able to edit your geometry file on disk.

Actual behaviour
Windows gives the following error message:

Closing or deleting the Project doesn't resolve this issue.

Workaround
Once Mari has been closed, you should be able to edit the file, and the issue won't come back once you reopen Mari and the relevant Project.
