Follow

Problem summary
Using invalid Trim In and Out settings in Flix generates corrupt Avid clips

Customer reported version
flix_7.1.0

Steps to reproduce

1)Turn off Third Party Apps->Editorial Tools option "Use Flix timing"

2)Set the Mark In value (in the same menu) to 960

3)Set the Mark Out value (in the same menu) to 216

4)Set the Source media duration (in the same menu) to 480 (default value)

5)Add a few panels to a sequence and publish

6)Import the AAF to Avid

The issue is present regardless if the Use Flix timing is on or off.

Expected behaviour
Flix should warn the user the Mark In and Mark Out Avid settings are invalid (the Mark Out should be smaller than the Mark In and the Mark In should be smaller than the Source Media Duration) and it will cause a corrupt AAF. The Mark In, Mark Out, and Source Media Duration need to follow the following formula - Mark In<Mark Out</=Source Media Duration. The following KB article explains the expected behavior in more detail - Q100440: How to set fixed panel durations for Avid with Flix's Mark In and Mark Out options

Actual behaviour
Flix generates the Avid clip with invalid Mark In and Mark out durations causing the Avid clips to be corrupt

Workaround
Set the Mark In and Mark Out durations to the following formula - Mark In<Mark Out</=Source Media Duration. The following KB article explains the expected behavior in more detail - Q100440: How to set fixed panel durations for Avid with Flix's Mark In and Mark Out options
