Problem summary
When a scene graph location has the purpose parameter set to render, it doesn't allow selecting multiple faces through the Front Faces Selection option.

Steps to reproduce
 

  1. Launch Katana.
     
  2. Create a UsdPrimCreate node and set it to Edit mode by pressing E while over the node.
     
  3. Set the primPath(1) field to /root/test.
     
  4. Set type to Xform.
     
  5. Press V when over the UsdPrimCreate node to activate the View mode.
     
  6. Right-click on / in the USD scene graph and select Expand All.
     
  7. Create a UsdPayloadSet node and switch it to Edit mode by pressing E while over the node.
     
  8. Select test in the USD scene graph and press and hold the middle mouse button while dragging to the primPath(1) field.
     
  9. Click on the downward-facing arrow in asset and choose Browse… to select the attached file Geo_test.usd.
     
  10. Under assetPrimPath, click the downward arrow and select cup_v001_Cup.
     
  11. Connect the output of the UsdPrimCreate node to the input of the UsdPayloadSet node.
     
  12. Press V while hovering the UsdPayloadSet node to activate the View mode.
     
  13. Right-click on / in the USD scene graph and select Expand All.
     
  14. Create a USDToKatana node and set it to Edit mode by pressing E while over the node.
     
  15. Select test in the USD scene graph, hold the middle mouse button while dragging, and drop it into the primPath(1) field.
     
  16. Connect the output of the UsdPayloadSet node to the input of the UsdToKatana node.
     
  17. Press V while over the UsdToKatana node to activate the View mode.
     
  18. Right-click on root in the Katana scene graph and select Expand All.
     
  19. Set the UsdPrimCreate to Edit mode by pressing E while over the node.
     
  20. Left-click on the bottom of the coffee cup geometry.
     
  21. On the top menu of the Viewer panel, click on the downward-facing arrow next to the button representing a four-square polygon and select Front Face Selection.
     
  22. Hold down the left mouse button and try to select multiple faces.
     
  23. In the Parameters panel, change purpose from default to render.
     
  24. From the main menu of Katana, select Util > Flush Caches.
     
  25. Repeat steps 21 and 22.
 
Expected behaviour
A scene graph location with purpose set to render should enable multi-face selection via the Front Faces Selection option.
 
Actual behaviour
When a graph location has purpose set to render, it does not allow multi-face selection through the Front Faces Selection option.
