Problem summary:
OCIOColorSpace Soft Effects can produce different results depending on the user's Color Managment Preferences
Customer reported version:
Hiero
Customer reported platform:
Rocky 9
Steps to reproduce:
1) Launch Nuke Studio and navigate to Project > Edit Settings > Color Management
2) Select the aces_1.2 config that ships with Nuke Studio
3) Navigate to Edit > Preferences... > Color Management and select the aces_1.2 config
4) Change the Floating Point Files knob from "scene_linear (ACES - ACEScg)" to "data (Utility - Raw)" and press OK
5) Download the attached acescg.exr file and import it into the Project
6) Add this clip to the Timeline and attach an OCIOColorSpace Soft Effect
7) In the Soft Effect's Properties, set the output knob to "color_picking (Output - sRGB)"
8) Note how the image looks in the Viewer, then Save the Project and Close Nuke Studio
9) Launch Nuke Studio again and reopen the Project, observing how the displayed image is now different:
Expected behavior:
Color Management Preferences should not change how OCIOColorSpace Soft Effects behave inside Projects.
Actual behavior:
OCIOColorSpace Soft Effects may output different results depending on the values currently specified in the Color Management Preferences/stored in the ~/.nuke/uistate.ini file.
If the Preferences are adjusted again and the Floating Point Files knob is set back to "scene_linear (ACES - ACEScg)", the image will return to its initial value once Nuke Studio is opened again.
Workaround:
No known workaround at this time.
