ID 604211 - Brush colorspace appears incorrect

Follow

Problem summary:

Brush colorspace appears incorrect when painting into Color Data target.

It would appear that, when painting into a color data target, an additional sRGB > Linear conversion is being applied (with nuke-default)

Seems to have been the case since RGBA brush tips were introduced.

NOTE: This currently appears to cause the Roller Brush to have incorrect colors in a multi-channel painting context.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Download attached images
  2. Create a color data paint node
  3. With the Paint tool active, load one of the images as the brush bitmap
  4. Set Source to RGBA
  5. Check that the image's colorspace is set correctly.
    - 8bit should be sRGB
    - 16bit should be linear
Note that in 7.5, this needs to be set in the Image Manager colorspace settings, not Tool Properties
  6. Set FG paint color to fully white (1.0/1.0/1.0/1.0)
  7. Paint a splat
  8. Compare color to image preview

Expected behaviour:

Should match

Actual behaviour:

The paint appears darker.

Workaround:

No known workaround.
