NEXT STEPS

If you need to transfer or migrate a license you can find more information in our License Transfer Policy here. The policy sets out the rules for issuing replacement or substitute license keys for the use of Foundry software products.

NOTE: Transferring licenses between machines while your maintenance and support has lapsed, will incur a transfer fee. Please contact our Sales team for more information.

NOTE: You must remove all transferred license keys on the originating machine within 2 days of receiving the new license keys. Instructions on how to delete your license can be found here: Q100257: How to remove licenses from your machine

LICENSE TRANSFER

To submit a license transfer:

  1. Download the following License Transfer Form
  2. Identify the system IDs of your old and new computer.

CHANGING RLM LICENSE TYPE

If you want to request a change between RLM license types, then you can

  1. Complete the License Transfer Form including the following details:
        1. Enter your current System ID in both System ID fields
        2. Product you wish to transfer
        3. Enter “Nodelocked to Floating” or “Floating to Nodelocked” in the Reason you wish to transfer

NOTE: Student/Faculty/Graduate licenses are limited to Nodelocked and Individual Login licenses only.

MIGRATING TO LOGIN-BASED LICENSING

If you’re looking to migrate your license from RLM to Login-based, here are the available license type migration options:

Amount License Type Migrated to Login-based
Single RLM Nodelocked Individual Login
Multiple RLM Nodelocked Team Login
Single RLM Floating Team Login
Multiple RLM Floating Team Login

NOTE: Individual Login licenses cannot be activated from Nuke render mode. RLM Nodelocked Render licenses will therefore be transitioned to Team licensing.

In order to request the migration of your RLM licenses to Login licensing (Individual or Team), guidance is available in the following article: Q100664: Instructions for Users Transferring to Login Licensing

You have to complete the following license migration form to submit your migration request. Based on the type of Login licensing you’d like to migrate to, please find a step by step guide below:

NOTES:

  • Login licensing is supported starting with Nuke 14 and Mari 7. Older versions of the software do not support Login licensing and will require an RLM license type to run.
  • The Education Migration form specific to Education can only be used to transition Student/Faculty/Graduate licenses to Login licensing.
  • Our Education Collective licenses are issued in 2 parts:

    • Nuke, NukeX, Nuke Studio and Mari licenses as Login-based

    • Katana interactive and render licenses as 2 separate activation keys

  • Only the license key owner or primary contacts can authorize setting up a Team Login license. If you are not the license key owner or one of the primary contacts, then please ask them to request the migration instead.

MIGRATING FROM LOGIN-BASED LICENSING TO RLM

If you would like to migrate your login-based license (Teams or Individual) to an RLM license (Floating or Nodelocked), please email our Licenses team (licenses@foundry.com) with the login details for the license(s) you want to transfer, the System ID of the machine you want to transfer to, and the reason for your transfer request.
